Common Core Connections

The Common Core Standards state, “students must read widely and deeply from among a broad range of high-quality, increasingly challenging literary and informational texts.”

The ELA/Reading Common Core Standards include 4 clusters: Key Ideas & Details, Craft & Structure, Integration of Knowledge & Ideas, and Range of Reading & Level of Text Complexity.

Within each of the clusters there are 10 reading standards that students are required to meet by the end of the school year.

Each of these standards point to specific reading skills and the Common Core Standards point to specific strategies.

Reading should increase in complexity, should include different selections on a similar theme and different genres. RALLY! READING CARDS focuses on different genres and skills.
